Step Outside. Grow Within.
Hi, I’m the creator of Step Outside Grow — a lifelong explorer of the natural world who believes deeply in the power of personal growth, mental clarity, and professional development through time in nature.
From the rugged coastlines of Alaska to the warm waters of Florida and now the mossy forests of the Pacific Northwest, nature has always been more than a backdrop — it’s been my guide, my teacher, and my place to reset. I grew up hiking, fishing, kayaking, and exploring, learning early on that the outdoors can shape who you are and how you see the world.
I’m also a proud husband, happily married for over 24 years, and a father to five incredible kids. Many of my best outdoor memories have been shared with them — by a campfire, on a trail, or simply watching the sunrise together.
My Story
Nature grounds me, restores me, and helps me grow. But so has my journey through work, leadership, and raising a family.
Professionally, I’ve worked my way up across multiple industries — from national sales manager in tech, to director of a visitor bureau, to manager at a credit union. In every role, I started from the bottom and earned my way up — not through shortcuts, but through consistency, curiosity, and a genuine desire to help others grow.
That’s where my passion lies: in coaching and mentoring others to reach their full potential. I believe personal and professional growth are inseparable, and both are fueled by moments of reflection, simplicity, and connection — the kind nature so generously provides.
The Mission of Step Outside Grow
I started this site as a place to reflect, reconnect, and help others do the same.
This platform is for anyone who wants to:
- Rediscover peace and presence through the outdoors
- Use nature as a tool for mindfulness and clarity
- Explore personal growth without pressure or perfection
- Balance work, life, and well-being through intentional living
You don’t need to disappear into the wilderness to grow — sometimes all it takes is a short walk, a few deep breaths, and the willingness to step outside.
Core Values
- Simplicity over stress – The best things in life are often the simplest.
- Progress through presence – Whether with family or on a trail, being fully present creates space for growth.
- Grounded leadership – I’ve lived it in my career, in nature, and in raising a family.
- Authenticity – I share the real journey — the messy, beautiful, growing kind.
